Objective  To investigate the current status of the "knowledge-attitude-behavior" (KAP) model of medication risk in diabetic patients in Ordos city, and to analyze the factors that may cause  medication risk.

Methods  Using non-probability sampling method, the online and offline surveys of diabetic patients in 6 hospitals in Ordos city were conducted with KAP questionnaire from January to December 2021. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of KAP score of medication risk.

Results  A total of 436 valid questionnaires were obtained. The average scores of the interviewees' medication knowledge, medication good behavior, adverse medication behavior, medi-cation education attitude and education frequency satisfaction were (72.12±31.17), (31.69±8.18), (15.49±5.63), (19.36±5.06) and (15.31±6.43) points. The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, medical insurance status, place of residence and education were the influ-encing factors of medication knowledge; age and gender were the influencing factors of medication good behavior; income level was adverse medication behavior; age was the factors of education fre-quency satisfaction; age and medical insurance status were the influencing factors of attitude towards medication education.

Conclusion  Through this survey, it is found that the cognition of safe drug use, drug use attitude and safe drug use behavior of diabetic patients in Ordos city need to be improved, and targeted rational drug use education should be carried out according to the age, education level, occupational characteristics, medical insurance status and residence of patients.
